Reminder - the May Mangum Manor Civic Club Meeting is tonight beginning at 7 pm at Scarborough High School in the library. The 2017-18 board elections will be held at the meeting tonight, the nominations from the meeting last month were: President: Jessi Heiner Vice President: Francisco Blasco Secretary: Angelic Vargas Treasurer: Melissa Averett Section I Representatives (2): Angel Smith, Brad Young Section II Representatives (2): Justin Cade, Rob Smith Section III Representatives (2): Carolina Chavez, Alyssa DeLeon Following the election, the new officers will formally assume office June 1 and soon begin planning the calendar and events for 2017-18. A hearty thank you to all the volunteers who served 2016-17! In other news, the license applications for the El Paso Sports Bar at 3825 Mangum is currently being reviewed by TABC. There will be a hearing to which anyone may attend to speak/protest, the date has yet to be announced but should be soon. Several residents met two weeks ago with the bar owner Yasvony Capote, the strip center security guard, TABC agent handling the application Sergio Saldivar and HPD officer Miranda (officer hired by some residents to patrol Mangum Manor while off-duty but in uniform). The meeting was to make acquaintances as well as have an extended Q&A session about the expectations and scope of the bar should it be granted licenses and open for business. ====================================================================== Check out Mangum Manor Civic Club on Facebook!
